Home swap, friendly advice on how to find council exchanges and housing association exchange.

Can I Mutual Exchange?

All council and housing association tenants who hold a secure or assured tenancy have the right to mutual exchange or home swap.

If you have a starter tenancy, a demotion order, an injuction, ASBO etc you will probably not be able to mutual exchange or home swap, you should check with your Landlord to find out what type of tenancy you have and if your are allowed to home swap.

Bear in mind that the place that you want to home swap with has to suit your needs. A landlord will not agree to an exchange if you will be overcrowded in your new home or if you will have more than one spare bedroom.

You will also need a clear rent account when you are ready to swap homes.

In order to avoid disappointment you should check with your landlord to see if you have the right to mutual exchange or home swap before you start looking for a home swap.
